Civic Summit
The Missouri Bar is Sponsoring a Civic Education Summit on Checks and Balances of Power in Jefferson City on June 1, 2007
What is happening: State education leaders, legislators, civic educators, lawyers and high school students will be holding a Civic Education Summit, sponsored by The Missouri Bar.
Why: The Missouri Bar provides high school teachers with a wide range of free resources and programs to support their citizenship education efforts. Other organizations and government groups provide additional materials. By convening this summit, The Missouri Bar will make sure that students and teachers throughout the state receive the maximum benefit from all available civic education resources.
Who will be participating at the conference:
members of the League of Women Voters, lawyers, civic teachers, school administrators and judges.
When: on Friday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
Who will be speaking: Keynoter: Robert Grey, former president of the American Bar Association;
Panel Discussion –
Chief Justice Michael Wolff of the Supreme Court of Missouri;
Missouri Bar President C. Ronald Baird;
Professor Dave Robertson of UMSL and;
Beth Doriani, a high school student from St. Louis;
