The Monsanto Company Office of Policy, Stewardship, Regulation and Government (OPSRG) has an opening for the position of Corporate Counsel. OPSRG Corporate Counsel provides legal advice and policy guidance to the Corporation, both directly and through the use of outside counsel. This position calls for the utmost integrity and accountability and requires the successful candidate to assist the OPSRG in managing a broad range of legal and policy matters with specific focus on the Monsanto Company's Code of Business Conduct, compliance with anticorruption laws such as The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and trade law matters (e.g. anti-boycott; Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism; export classification and clearance; and sanctioned party screening). Job Responsibilities
• Provide legal support and guidance on matters relating to compliance, ethics and general trade law matters, including potential issues of noncompliance
• Handle routine corporate FCPA matters
• Coordinate internal and external resources, as needed, to investigate allegations of fraud and make appropriate recommendations
• Ensure all ethics-related programs meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, and the structure as set forth in the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) framework.
• Conduct periodic compliance risk analyses to identify and prioritize potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk of illegal, unethical or improper conduct
• Provide advice, counsel and training to Monsanto business leaders in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to US Customs regulations, Export Administration, Office of Foreign Assets Controls, anti-boycott and other government agency requirements
• Participate as member of internal Global Trade Network team, having authority for export compliance policy and procedural implementation across Monsanto around the globe
• Support Internal Audit efforts for oversight of the business, affiliates, and freight forwarders for compliance to export procedures/policies, assist in development of corrective action plans to address deficiencies and/or add new controls for meeting regulatory changes domestically and internationally
• Participation on Monsanto compliance committees and related international regional working groups
• Advise on global anti-corruption policy development and emerging issues in corporate compliance
• Support the Director of Business Conduct in analysis and management of conflicts of interest policy, lobbying and government official interaction, and other routine legal matters involving requests for guidance made of the Business Conduct Office
• Work collaboratively with other members of OPSRG and the company on current and proposed company policies and initiatives (e.g., Human Rights, Business Conduct, U.S. federal lobbying and reporting)
• Manage outside counsel to ensure high quality, cost-effective legal support and representation
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, trustworthiness and sound judgment in all areas

Basic Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor degree
• Demonstrated academic and professional excellence
• Member of at least one state bar
• Minimum three years of work experience as an attorney in a law firm, government or in-house legal department with relevant experience
