General Purpose:  This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Legal, and is responsible for providing legal guidance and support to the company on compliance policies and regulatory matters, and monitoring, maintaining and ensuring adherence to all company compliance programs and policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide counsel, advice, and legal services to all areas of the company related to compliance policies and regulatory matters;
• Monitor state and federal regulatory trends, activities, and requirements, including, without limitation, FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, CFTC, CBP, FTC, DOT, DOL, and BIS;
• Provide ongoing training to all business units related to compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies;
• Develop and manage internal control and audit systems to prevent and detect noncompliance with company policies, laws, and regulations;
• Provide company personnel with risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies;
• Manage company’s confidential compliance reporting mechanisms;
• Review and interpret case law, statutes, regulations, and pending legislation;
• Ensure that company compliance policies are kept up-to-date and that employees are made aware of compliance requirements;
• Prepare and issue legal opinions identifying possible regulatory and liability issues and work with business units to develop best practice solutions;
• Coordinate comments on regulatory rulemaking on behalf of company;
• Assist as needed with document production, witness preparation, and other activities related to regulatory investigations, examinations, and inquiries;
